Excellent
The NRA is pushing a sweeping new bill to radically weaken the nation’s gun control regime. Already co-sponsored by 243 members of the House, the legislation would force any state to recognize a concealed weapons permit issued by any other state
And the hippies are frightened.

But will Harry Reid allow it to come to the Senate Floor? And if he does, will there be enough votes to pass it? And will there be enough votes to override the Anointed One’s Veto? Might have to wait to see if the Republitards can get a Pro-Gun President into the White House AND get control of the Senate. Stay tuned.

WINNING

Harry Reid owes his continued position as speaker to the NRA, so I suspect he will let it come to the floor. I don’t know if it can get past the veto pen.

Since NRA did not endorse him because, despite being pro-gun, the Rs raised a fit about it, I doubt it.

From other coverage (and not from any personal experience reading a primary source) I thought that holders of permits from states other than their state of residence would not gain interstate carry rights.
The linked-to article suggests otherwise.

I could sure use that. Every now and then I have to drive through Wisconsin and Illinois. It’d be nice to have some legality about carrying. I doubt it would do much good, but at least I might get out of jail on appeal.

If memory serves, Ellen, it won’t help you with Illinois. The bill says that the state has to treat you like one of their permit holders – and Illinois doesn’t have any permit holders, save consular staff.

Other states have to recognise Drivers Licenses, so why not a CHL?
The catch will be cops and DAs who HATE this and will trump up any charge they can to send a message.
But for most states, this is great!

Sounds good to me. From were I live in MA I can be in NY in 15 minutes and CT and VT in 30. What am I supposed to do get 4 licences

“The nation’s gun control regime.” Where’s that in the Constitution? An early lesson in the litanies of fascism, and I use the term literally and without irony: anytime anyone mentions “our nation’s system of _____,” no matter whether the blank is car dealerships (that used to be part of the joke, you know), knitting circles, or library cards — put on an armored cup.

Markie Marxist sez: “Yeah! What if this legislation to force any state to recognize a driver’s license issued by any other state became law? How would you like that? Huh? Anarchy on the highways! Innocent families splattered all over the interstates like human road kill! What if some crazy, cross-eyed, cousin humping, redneck from Tennessee wanted to drive on the well groomed highways of our People’s Democratic Republic of Marxachusetts? What if some crazy madman from the radical, right-wing, wingnut and chili sauce state of Texas, like that fire breathing redneck, serial Democrat killer, cowboy in a suit, that Rick Perry guy, wanted to drive some macho, murder machine, like a suped-up Corvette, on the gentle freeways of our beloved Commiefornia? Obviously, we have to draw the line somewhere, and we already have! Every state already has its own state line. If someone wants to drive in a particular state, he should have to pass all the qualifications, requirements and tests of that state, pay the fees, and then be issued a driver’s license for that state! After all, regulation is for the public good! It’s just common communist sense to keep the crazies off the highway! You don’t want to share the road with deranged, out-of-state crazies, do you? Oh, wait a minute. It’s about gun licenses? Oh, well, uh, that’s worse, isn’t it? Much worse, actually. Uh . . . “
