You mean people don’t like being touched in inappropriate places?

Hard for me to have sympathy on a TSA agent who accuses another TSA agent of sexual assault. Isn’t that what you guys do for a living?

Update: Sexual assault is a poor choice of words. Unwanted sexual advances is more appropriate. See comments.

I bet whatever happened to her is far more pleasant than the ways I’d like to violate those fuckwads.

  2. Prosecutorial Indiscretion Says:

Seriously? I loathe the TSA as an organization and many individual TSOs are just bullies with badges. That doesn’t mean sexual assault isn’t serious business, however, no matter who the victim works for. When the ideological blinders are on so tight that you make light of what reads like allegations of rape, it’s time to take a few deep breaths and seek a broader perspective.

  3. Anonymous Says:

I dislike the waste of money and security theatre the TSA represents, but Im with Prosecutorial Indiscretion’s statement.

  4. TRO Says:

Agree with Proprietorial Indiscretion. I loathe the TSA but this post is out of line. Have to say I also find it telling that Glenn Reynolds links to this post without some criticism when he has often decried prison rape. I guess a convicted prisoner gets a break a TSA officer doesn’t.

  5. SayUncle Says:

Unwanted sexual advances are a far cry from sexual assault and rape.

  6. Mark E Says:

TSA people who sexually assault Americans need to be publicly shamed and shunned.

Every other TSA employee is guilty of aiding & abetting and deserves the same treatment.

On the other hand, I’m sure that it is just the 90% bad apples who are giving the other 10% a poor reputation

Was it an exercise in a training class?

  8. gus3 Says:

Don’t forget, TSA screeners are *paid* to grope and molest.

    Paid with *your tax dollars*.

To grope and molest *you*, the traveling public.

Anyone else doing what they do, as often as they do it, and doing it without pay, would be getting life without parole.

  9. Hurricane Says:

“Unwanted sexual advances” is sexual assault? Until I know more this story is ripe for making fun of.

  10. TRO Says:

“Unwanted sexual advances are a far cry from sexual assault and rape.”

Very true, perhaps you should change your post to clarify that it’s only unwanted sexual advances you think TSA officers don’t deserve any sympathy for.

Assuming it’s even true, it certainly wasn’t a “rape rape moment,” right?

BTW, TSA sucks ass . . . just making sure you know I agree with you on that point.

  11. Kenneth Says:

so basically the other employee probably asked her if he could give her a pat down ..assault would be trying to drag her in a room and actually assaulting her ..

  12. luagha Says:

I would just like to state that I am a big, somewhat semitic looking fellow and right now my special screening percentage is 90%.

I have a variety of medical problems which suggest that I shouldn’t get any more radiation than I already get.

It may be because of the places I fly into and out of (St. Louis, where they are serious moustachioed Lutherans; and Oakland airport Southwest terminal) but I’ve looked up the legal search rules and the TSA screeners I’ve had have always followed procedures exactly.

Maybe I just wasn’t attractive enough.

  13. Bill Gannon Says:

Appreciate the irony but agree with Proprietorial Indiscretion. It ain’t a laughing matter. Anywhere. Time to grow up.

  14. Cap'n Dan Says:

This sort of behavior is about what I’d expect. Every time I have to deal with TSA, I’m struck by the thought that somewhere there’s a Walmart that’s understaffed.

  15. gus3 Says:

    @Bill Gannon:

I’m not laughing, I’m mad as fuck and anything that will get this bullshit agency shut down is a win in my book, even if it’s ridicule and humiliation. They’re hypocrites, every last one of them from the top down, to think it’s OK to subject law-abiding citizens to this treatment (“get your freak on!”), when they would never put up with it from their neighbors, as this lawsuit proves.

As for myself, any call for me to “grow up” will be interpreted as a request/demand that I mask my outrage under a veneer of good manners, and will be summarily rejected.

Fuck the TSA, and anyone who tells me I shouldn’t say that.

We shouldn’t be so hard on the TSA. After all, zey are chust following orders.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
