Geebus – the “www.theonion.com” URL is kinda hard to miss – sorta like having “kick me” (or “I live in a cave and have never spent any time on the actual Internet”) embroidered on the back of your shirts..
A more accurate headline might be, “Politico fires staff member in charge of his Facebook page for the embarrassment caused by staff member falling for an Onion parody.”
If any politico does their own posts to their official Facebook page, I’d de-elect them on the basis that they aren’t being paid to play on the internet.

I’m not surprised there are folks that don’t know theonion is satire. It ain’t their jobs, and they probably don’t play on the net that much.
Now the fact that he doesn’t have someone working for him that knows all about theonion is a problem.
