My last word on the Martin shooting
If you followed the press narrative, you’d think that a white supremacist shot Arnold from Diff’rent Strokes. And that’s not it. If you followed the narrative elsewhere, it’s a clear case of self defense. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. But for some reason, someone wants to make this about race and someone else wants to make it about gun laws.
Now, I was one of those who came out early and said it looked like death by mall ninja. Because, based on what was considered known then, he followed the guy when he didn’t have to. And now, that’s not so cut and dry. And an eyewitness says that Martin was beating up Zimmerman.
Elsewhere on the tubes:
But remember who’s getting painted as prejudiced.
MSNBC says lock Zimmerman up for his own safety. Ed Schultz blames Jeb Bush.
Spike Lee tweeting Zimmerman’s home address. And the Black Panthers call for his death.
Update: And by last word, I mean last word until we actually know something.

The truth is the victim. With all of the posturing and threats flying around few people are interested in the truth. And now the riots will start.
March 26th, 2012 at 9:55 am
To the race baiters, the riots are a feature not a bug.

The more I learn the less I feel this was “death by mall ninja”. Would a self respecting mall ninja be carrying a pocket gun “on patrol” instead of a 45 death ray or high capacity wonder 9? Also I see nothing about him having a flashlight. Who know how that would have changed things?
March 26th, 2012 at 10:56 am
The witness is not new, even to the news media. His account was published by Fox Orlando on Feb 27. I saw a video of that news interview that used “last night” as the timeframe.
A 911 caller, reporting the shooting, that night states that the man in the “white t-shirt” was on top of the other prior to the shooting but could provide no more details. The police report has Martin in a grey sweatshirt and Zimmerman in a red jacket.
It certainly appears that the physical evidence, which hasn’t been released to the public, is going to be the critical factor.
March 26th, 2012 at 11:07 am
The people who justify the shooting saying that Martin was on top and Zimmerman was getting beat up are ignoring the very real possibilty that is was in fact Martin who was “standing his ground”. Just because you are losing a fight doesn’t mean you didn’t start it.

Yes but that’s the $64K question, isn’t it?

El Bombardero,
The whole thing hinges on whether there was a reasonable belief of imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury. Ayoob discusses the fact that the only spent cartridge was found in the chamber of Zimmerman’s gun indicating something interfered with the operation of the slide. The details of which would impact the imminent threat and be governed by the physical evidence.
On a side note, I was looking for the news video when I came across this most unprofessional and incendiary news report using a witnesses speculation as the basis for… what I don’t know. It certainly wasn’t to inform the viewers of facts or new information in the case. I’ve the urge to call my local Eyewitness News and tell them I’m never going to watch again just for their name association with these low lifes.

Wonder why this is not getting a lot of news coverage?
13-year-old boy who police say was doused with gasoline and lit on fire last week while walking home from school is recovering from first-degree burns to his face and head.
The boy was just two blocks from his home in Kansas City Tuesday when two teenagers began to follow him and then attacked him, his mother, Melissa Coon, said.
Police have described the suspects as black 16-year-olds, while the victim is white.
“We were told it’s a hate crime,” Coon told KTLA.
They rushed him on the porch as he tried to get the door open,” Coon told KMBC. “(One of them) poured the gasoline, then flicked the Bic, and said, ‘This is what you deserve. You get what you deserve, white boy.'”
By lighting the gasoline, the second attacker “produced a large fireball burning the face and hair” of the boy, according to a Kansas City Police Department report obtained by KCTV.
“It was pretty bad stuff,” Detective Stacey Taylor told the TV station, adding that police are concerned the boy may have suffered damage to his eyes and lungs.
Coon said her son put out the fire with his shirt and called 911 himself. He was rushed to the hospital and was treated for his injuries.
She believes the students also attend East High School with her son, and said he will not be returning to the school. She also told KMBC her traumatized family plans now plans to move.
“My 5-year-old came in and asked me, ‘Mom, am I going to get set on fire today?'” Coon said. “I was in tears.”

MSNBC says lock up Zimmerman for his own safety? That’s illegal. The comtards at MSNBC want him locked up so bad, that they’ll use any excuse to justify it for the sake of their narrative. They love to see the power of the state come down on their political adversaries.
Well, sorry, but Mr.Zimmerman shot a 6’2″ football player/hoodlum of off him, who was trying to kill him at the time.
And as for Obama, our Racist-in-Chief, he might as well have said, “To hell with George Zimmerman, if I had a son he would look like Trayvon Martin, not George Zimmerman.”
Equality under the law? Not under this President, not if you’re white. Who has to sit at the back of the bus now?

Chas you hit the nail on the head most of the trouble comes from the top.
After reading the headlines about the US soldier who shot up
Afghanistan civilians, I couldn’t help noticing an irony. There is
all this clamor to try this guy quickly and execute him, never mind
his having suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Yet this Major Hasan, who shot up Fort Hood while screaming Allah
akbar, still hasnt stood trial, and they are still debating whether
he was insane, even with the clear evidence regarding his motive:
slay as many infidels as possible. So we have a guy in a war zone
who cracks, and he must be executed immediately.
But this Muslim psychiatrist who was stateside in a nice safe
office all day murders 13, wounds 29 of our own guys, and they try to
argue the poor lad suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome, from
listening to real soldiers who had actual battle experience. Two and
a half years later, they still havent tried the murderous bastard…

MSJ,
“Would a self respecting mall ninja be carrying a pocket gun “on patrol” instead of a 45 death ray or high capacity wonder 9?”
Mall Ninja is a state of mind, not somebody who owns guns or wears clothes you find to be politically incorrect.
A Mall Ninja is somebody who think that his or her security guard job, CCW permit, or shotgun behind the door makes them a combination of Junior G-Man, Batman, and the Neighborhood Defense Militia.
Their job isn’t to protect themselves and their loved ones, it’s to go out and right wrongs, whether it’s with a light’n’laser-equipped HK45 or with a Kel-Tec P32. “Qualified immunity? We don’t need no steenkin’ qualified immunity! Only girls and Democrats worry about sissy stuff like that! Men protect the tribe!” *thump, thump*

Well, it appears Zimmerman was on his way to the store, saw Martin and called 911. He then got followed Martin behind the houses, lost him and was returning to his truck when Martin confronted him. Martin supposedly knocked him down with one punch, then started banging his head against the sidewalk. At least, that is the statement he gave which fits with the physical evidence. And the there would be physical evidence.
So less mall ninja and more concerned citizen who happened to be carrying his lawful firearm.
I guess the new rule is if you see something, let it go.
March 26th, 2012 at 3:22 pm
JKB,
I was just correcting MSJ’s definition of Mall Ninja. As to whether Zimmerman is one or not? Haven’t a clue.
He’d done some pretty mall ninja things in the past (such as placing more 911 calls for petty nonsense in the last few months than I have for genuine emergencies since the inception of the 911 system.)
But even if he is, it is not against the law to be a mall ninja.
March 26th, 2012 at 3:36 pm
@tam #11: “Their job isn’t to protect themselves and their loved ones, it’s to go out and right wrongs…”
It all makes sense now, the Police are all mall ninjas.
Mind = Blown. 😀
(sorry I could not resist)
March 26th, 2012 at 5:38 pm
I saw “Blart, Mall Cop”. The mall ninjas are the bad guys robbing the stores aren’t they?
March 26th, 2012 at 10:23 pm
So far, the time I screamed the loudest at the TV in this whole episode is when I saw the lady that claimed she was an “eye-witness” that the police interviewed for a short period but didn’t “thoroughly question” her. She HEARD the incident. She thinks she has the magic testimony and she didn’t see anything. Yet, she says she heard the “child crying.” Most police will tell you that an eye-witness that SAW an incident with their own eyes is not very credible. She’s willing to put someone in prison for what she heard. People never cease to disappoint me.
March 27th, 2012 at 11:30 am
If only Zimmerman had been wise enough to buy his gun from the ATF and Eric Holder. All we would hear is crickets chirping.
March 27th, 2012 at 10:00 pm
I mean in addition to ironic. But Irony is good for starters. Then I would move on to moronic.
