Rigging the game
In Knoxville, there’s an election and a local legal hot shot, Shelley Breeding, was running for the seat in district 89. Seems that despite:
The state not knowing where the Anderson/Knox border is
Her mail goes to a Knox county address
Her address and deed are in Knox county
Her car is registered in Knox county
And she is registered to vote in Knox county
A court ruled she is not a resident of Knox county and cannot run for that office. This ensures that, basically, the Republicans will have no opposition. I’ve met Shelly before through a mutual acquaintance and she was referred to me once for a legal matter. She’s bright and capable.
I hope she appeals. Anyone know how to contribute to her cause? It’d mark the first time I donated to a Democrat.

Addresses don’t necessairly establish residency. For years I had a Frisco, TX address but the house I lived in wasn’t in the Frisco city limits. The apartment I live in now is within the one city’s limits but has an address in another city.
According to the Internets, she paid property taxes to Anderson County. Since you live where you pay your taxes, I don’t see the problem with the ruling that she’s not a Knox County resident.
Also the judge that issued the ruling is a Democrat so it’s hardly a case of Republicans ganging up on the Democrat.

It’s all about the money. Did I read rightly that her property taxes went to the other county? But her deed is in the Knox courthouse…..
So, GOVERNMENT screws up, but its her fault.
Alrighty then.

Taxes being one criteria, sure. Then I wonder how she’s registered to vote there.

She says she lives in Knox county, but pays taxes to Anderson county?
Sounds like she made up her mind in the past, and now doesn’t like her choice. Which is understandable, we often want to make other choices later on. But we don’t often go to court about it.

I’ve never been given a choice to pay property taxes. I just get a bill that I have to pay or armed men will come and take it.

Uncle, my parents home is on the border of cheatham and davidson counties. Unsurprisingly, they elected to pay taxes to cheatham. Plus they can avoid Davidson’s car emissions testing. Of course, that decision was made before goggle earth and gps.

Really Uncle? You’d pay a property tax bill from a county you don’t live in? Would you choose to say “Hey, I live here, my address says I live here, my car is registered here, I should be paying taxes here?”
I’m within a mile or so of a city boarder and county line. Outside the city is cheaper. The next county over is cheaper. If cheap county decided to tax me instead of the my city and county I live in, is it my choice not to bring it up? Or is it forced on me?

Donate to a Democrat? Yechh. You just have the hots for her, right? đŸ˜‰

Just looked up her picture. Yeah, I wouldn’t kick her out of bed for eating crackers. Just wonder, why is she a ‘rat? I have to default to something wrong in the thought processes when someone signs on to that platform. Maybe there’s some kink in the chain that needs to be worked out, but I’d rather do it with fewer ‘rats in the pantry.

The fact that she didn’t know what county she actually lives in should be a disqualification in itself.
