Movie Review Haiku: The Avengers
Been called the greatest
Hero movie of all time
I agree. Hulk smash
Also, my daughter decided to do a “book review” of it. I think she nailed it (spoilers ahead, stop now):
And, also, that scene where Hulk whips Loki’s ass is one of the greatest ass-whipping scenes in cinematic history.

Puny god.

Two greatest lines in the movie; “puny god” and “Hulk…smash!”.

“Puny god!”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I thought the best line of the movie was Loki’s stunned wheeze after the Hulk had smashed him.

My comic book movie fave is still X-Men 2. It’s got it all in terms of acting, conflict, emotion, and sacrifice.
Avengers definitely has the spectacle, but I don’t think it topped X2. Ask me again after the Blu-Ray comes out and I can watch them one after the other.

Ayup…
In context “puny god”, might be one of the best lines ever uttered in film.
Though… the sucker punch out of frame might be a better moment…

Oh and Les, the BluRay came out a few weeks ago. We watched it in 3D at home… Seriously Awesome.

Dammit! Jr’s whiteboard skilz seem to surpass my own. Tell her to quit that shit. She might be my boss someday. You CANNOT argue with your boss, if they have superior whiteboard skilz.

Enjoy your shortlived victory, SHIELD. You have yet to face the real “fury” of LOVEMUFFIN.

The greatest moment was Loki’s speech to the Hulk just before the Hulk resumed the stomping. That and the fact that is looking up from a crater in a concrete floor made by the impact of his body.

@ Jeff: “I thought the best line of the movie was Loki’s stunned wheeze after the Hulk had smashed him.”
When I saw it at the theater, you couldn’t hear that, or the “Puny God” line because the entire theater was laughing and cheering the ass-beating Loki had just received.
I didn’t hear it until I watched it on Blu-Ray at home. And yes, it was perfect. Joss Whedon really does know how to make a blockbuster action film.

No love for Loki calling Scarlet a “mewling quim”?
It was the best Marvel Comic Movie by far IMO. And I much prefer Marvel to DC…but The Dark Knight is pretty tough to beat. And the third installment was exceptionally strong as well.
I mean, Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker killed him.

I liked the Tim Burton version. It was a time when our creepiness tolerance was not as high.

Yeah, the first Tim Burton Batman was good, but that franchise spiraled badly out of control…culminating with Robin’s nipples.

Loki had some fantastic lines: burdened with glorious purpose, the mewling quim that HL references, and calling The Huk a dull creature before the excellent asswhipping. Etc

I have been known to randomly, when the context is right, say, “Puny God” since seeing that movie. Much like I also use “Nut up or shut up” since seeing Zombieland.

This version is great!

Concur. It even edged out Hit Girl’s whoopassery and The Apotheosis of Tallahassee in Zombieland…

The portal was not closed by the missile. The missile went through the portal and then Black Widow closes it with Loki’s scepter (by triggering the fail safe in the design of the portal generator)
