Gettysburg has “freedom riders” in it. I guess they set up caravans of cars that the NPS can chase, so that others can enjoy the park. Cannot help but wonder if the NPS rangers are not in on the action. They like their jobs, but that doesn’t mean they need to be jackholes about it.
It is a shame I moved out of the area, and it is a further shame my Defender is laid up with a busted transmission – I am fairly sure a solid steel bumper, some cable, a few wire cutters, and some good, old-fashioned Navy ingenuity could … “solve” the Smoky’s… “problem”.
As much as I hate the recent developments during Shutdown-mageddon, I feel sorry for all those Park Rangers. They didn’t ask for any of this, and they probably realize just how pointless their work is, and every man and dog now hates their ass.
Aside from a few real control freaks (who are to be found pretty much everywhere) most of these guys get to choose between rolling with the entire thing against their choosing, or losing their job.
and seriously, where are you going to go if you get fired from the National Park Service when you were “essential personnel” during a funding emergency?

Good for them.

Hey NPS, remember to let us know what it looks like under the bus.
