The Safety Sin
Any time someone makes a mistake, the Monks of the Holy Order of Self-Righteous Range Safety (HOSRS) jump up and down pointing at the offender as if he committed a mortal sin. The accused is instantly and irrevocably excommunicated from the Church of Guys Who Like to Shoot.
Heh. Yup.

From the comment section of the blog: “There are two types of shooters, those that have NDs, and candidates.” He goes on to say that you shouldn’t judge a person by their ND, but what they do to attempt to prevent it in the future.”
Amen to that and a confession: I once committed an ND. I know now what I should have done and I will never, ever do what I did to cause the ND ever again.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Commenting as an admittedly lapsed, but nonetheless steeped in the catechism Roman Catholic, I note with some authority that sinners, even those whose past includes the most heinous of mortal offenses, are welcomed back to the fold after an honest confession, a serious renunciation of the offense, and a suitable act of penance. Or training and adherence to same, for shooters, I think.
Go forth afterwards, avoiding sin and near occasions of sin, and sin no more.
