Cool! Thanks for spreading the word

Good call. I’m in too. Hope this pans out, but I’m waiting for the ‘this is not an acceptable charity’ position from Amazon.

I’m on board the train. =)
If they have it in their list I have to believe it is “acceptable”. They do list it as a “Civil Rights” organization after all.

You may be better off using SAF’s Amazon affiliate link:
http://www.saf.org/amazon/
My understand is that percentage that goes to them is much higher with the Associates program: 4% – 15%, versus the 0.5%. It’s unclear to me whether the two systems can be combined.

Correction:
*versus the 0.5% earned through the Smile program

Screw the Second Amendment Foundation. They helped write the Manchin-Toomey-Schumer universal background check/universal gun registration bill that thankfully failed. SAF and Alan Gottlieb are helping the enemy. Support ANYONE but them.

More on Alan Gottlieb supporting gun control:

Yeah, those losers who also did Heller and McDonald. And they also dropped their support of the bill after realizing it wasn’t quite what they bargained for.
January 4th, 2014 at 8:21 pm
You realize that they helped *write* the bill, right? They dropped support once they realized it was going to fail – not because they didn’t know what was in it. I appreciate Heller and McDonald, and I wish SAF would only stick to that kind of stuff instead of helping to implement universal gun registration schemes.
It’s a special kind of revisionism that pretends that SAF just made an honest mistake and didn’t realize what they were getting into. THEY HELPED WRITE THE BILL. Did you even watch the video above where Alan Gottlieb is doing Bloomberg’s anti-gun PR for him? C’mon, now.

This may come as a surprise to you but this blog is older than two days and also covered the MT kerfuffle back when it happened. SAF proposed a bill and the politicians butchered it. They helped write the first draft and that was not what went up the flagpole.
I’m gonna guess you don’t dig NRA either because they pissed in your wheaties once. And you’re probably a GOA guy. The GOA’s legislative and legal accomplishments amount to exactly dick.
And, no, I didn’t visit the ttag link because I don’t read them.
January 4th, 2014 at 9:19 pm
Well, no matter, since the video in that link went dead between the time I posted it the first time and now. And I have already set up the Amazon Smile to send money to NRA. Because they were very much against SAF’s gun registration bill.
And according to none other than Alan Gottlieb, he didn’t help write the first draft. See:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9UMox1WoTw
Or, if you don’t read YouTube:
http://www.mediaite.com/online/watch-gun-rights-advocate-reveals-key-role-in-writing-manchin-toomey-background-checks-amendment/
See Alan Gottlieb throw gun owners [further] under the bus at about 4:00. Again, watch Alan Gottlieb in his own words explain how he and his staff wrote the LATER drafts, not the initial draft. He tried (and failed) to throw you and I under the bus.
Either you’re not aware of what he actually said and did, or you’re engaging in revisionism. Skip to 6:10 for his “I’m a gun owner, but..” moment too.
January 4th, 2014 at 9:22 pm
Hmm, i’ll concede I was unaware about the not writing it part. But the bill did change from his endorsement of it until it came to fruition. And good for you, giving to NRA. I like both.

Hey, I think it’s cool that Amazon has done something like this. I signed up to help Veterans Support Center. They helped my Foster Dad with his mom and that meant a lot to me.
