Just to give it a shot and make Diane Feinstein cry, I snagged a Surefire 60 round AR-15 magazine from Brownells. More on that later. But it came with this sticker across the follower (I put it on the mag to make it easy to read):
It says:
May not function with some variants including HK416/M27/MR556.
So, basically, no HK stuff. Once again their proprietary way of doing things is an annoyance.
Update: In comments, McThag sets me straight:
H&K is actually not being malicious here. They are simply conforming to the draft STANAG 4179. A standard that the Brit L85 and L86 also conform to.
It should probably be noted that the new P-Mags are 4179 compliant as well. The outlier in STANAG guns is the AR!

I don’t think calling the AR an ‘outlier’ here is fair, given that the draft was proposed in 1980 (and never ratified!) ‘Grandfathered in’ is probably more accurate.
