Yes you are right about NY. And those heavy triggers probably contribute to more misses of badguys and more bystanders hit. But even so I will bet NYPD suffers fewer ‘glock-leg’ incidents than other PD with standard Glock triggers.
The point I was trying to make is that the XYZ5000 questions, obviously intended as digs at 1911 type handguns, were about as fair as the ones I just posted.
What really annoys me about some critics of the 1911 is how they compare apples to oranges. A more fair comparison would compare only Colt made 1911 to a Glock.
How fair would it be to compare a Sigma to a Colt 1911? There are plenty of junky tactical tupperware pistols in the marketplace.
For me the bottom line is how tremendously individual a ‘best handgun’ is, and how many specialized roles there are for handguns even falling within the broad category of self-defense purposes. So if some authority proclaims what they have is the bestest pistol for everyone else based upon their own super-secret testing, I relegate them to the category of blowhard instead of authority.
Actually, I agree. All are fair criticisms of both guns. There is no perfect gun. If I had to take one shot at something to save the earth, I wouldn’t want it to be my 9MMs. But I’m not in that position often enough to rule out 9MM plastic guns as good e-fucking-nough for every other reason.
@Jovian (linked post): MD limits the transfer of magazines with 10+ rounds but ownership is not an issue. You can get them out of state and bring them back. AND…you can carry them if you have a permit. If not, you can still use them at the range.
If you like the 1911, go for it. Just don’t blame MD law for your preference. Love the 1911 for what it is (a relic)!

Okay. I’ll add a couple to the list.
Is the XYZ5000 unsafe to carry unless modified to have an 11 pound trigger pull?
Is the XYZ5000 unsafe to fire with lead bullets?

The 11lb thing is just NY stupidity. But, yeah, no perfect gun out there.
