Millennials and gun control
They’re generally for gun rights. As noted, the GOP isn’t good at outreach to that group what with all the social conservatism.

Something tells me the rather tiny gains they would get with social liberalism would still not attract the people who just plain don’t give a rats ass about politics or voting.. You know, about 46 percent of American voters…

Don’t you mean the millennials are generally AGAINST it? That’s what the link shows, anyway.
But I’d expected it to be a larger margin against gun control… it may only be the ones I know, but it seems like around here there’s very VERY few millennials in favor of more gun control. Now, socially they are indeed WAY more liberal than the GOP and their old line supporters are willing to recognize. Unfortunately, they also seem to be pretty liberal economically as well, but that is likely a side effect of their youth. When you don’t earn your own paycheck it’s easy to decide you want to give away pieces of somebody else’s.

Think of millenials like I did regarding my kids in their teen years: They want minimal oversight, minimal responsibilty to follow rules, and maximum freedom to do whatever they want.
Under those conditions, gun rights are favored, but so are less restrictions on drug use or contraception/abortion, and more outside support from any source, including parents, government, or society for their use.
An odd combination of political and social opinions, but a fun one to live under if it can be arranged to one’s own benefit.
