I recently bought a Hi Power with the express intent of sending it to Robar. I’ve already removed the magazine disconnect and installed a Cylinder & Slide Safety-Fast system that allows me to carry it cocked and locked with the hammer DOWN. Once Robar is done with it, it will have USABLE sights, and will be gorgeously finished in two-tone.
Just have to wait until about March of next year….
Those Hi powers are nice and out of the price range of most folks. However, there can be an answer for those of us without cubic dollars to spend.
I bought a lightly used Mk III Hi Power in .40 S&W for a little less than $500.00 used. I did all the work myself, installing a Cylinder & slide trigger, hammer & sear, Woolf springs, a set of LPA adjustable rear & fiber optic front sights finally a Bar Sto “drop in” barrel. The mag disconnect was removed & a set of checkered wood grips from ebay were installed. The pistol already had a nearly indestructible finish so no change there. Net cost, a little over $1200.00, about half the cost of the “porn” pistols. Extremely accurate, reliable and easy to shoot.
I have a FM High Power from Argentina with the mag disconnect removed, wood grips, and a durable finish, tho’ the sights are still horrible and it is hands down my favorite shooter. Accurate, easy to shoot and reliable. What more can one ask?

Isn’t a Hi Power just an updated 1911 in the wrong caliber? Hey, I’m only joking, put down the pitchforks!
