The Trumpening

Not helping:

No one wins in either country when human smugglers and drug traffickers prey on innocent people, when cartels commit acts of violence, when illegal weapons and cash flow from the United States into Mexico,

I know! Let’s make it illegal to sell guns to Mexican gang members. Oh, wait.

Exactly where did he say that “lax gun laws” are fueling crime in mexico?

  2. SayUncle Says:

I didn’t mean to imply that he did.

  3. Ron W Says:

Let’s have the government obey the Constitution for a CHANGE:

“The United States SHALL….protect the States against Invasion… (Article IV, Section 4, U.S. Constitution)

And leave our guns–and ammo alone, since the United States Government has NO delegated powers re: what the people choose to keep and carry for their armed self defense! It’s ONLY delegated power is “for governing such part of the militia which is called into service and EMPLOYED.” (Article I, Section 8.16) And it may do NOTHING without powers delegated to it from the States. (10th Amendment)

What’s not helping? Is this where I don’t understand unless I read the whole article?

  5. JTC Says:

I know! Try reading/listening to his own words rather than the narrative of the antis. Unless, you know, you are one. Anti-Trump I mean not anti-gun. Or maybe that’s part of the narrative?

  6. Michael Says:

    Erik,
He is picking up the false, left wing talking point of “weapons… flowing from the US to Mexico”. This has been widely debunked, yet is used as an excuse to push for more gun control. He shouldn’t be pushing this crap. But he is. Because Donald Trump is not a friend of the Second Amendment.

  7. Ron W Says:

Michael, when have we ever had “a friend of the 2nd Amendment” running for Prez among the two major parties? Trump’s rhetoric is certainly more 2nd Amendment friendly than I’ve heard from a Democrat or Republican and I’m 65. Typically the Libertarians are much better, but not this year! You’ll have to vote for the Constitution Party to get 2nd Amendment friendly since their party and candidate, Darrel Castleman, support repealing ALL Federal gun control laws. Oh, but then, that would be “wasting your vote” as they have told us for the last many elections.

  8. Veeshir Says:

He can say he’s building the wall to stop africanized bees for all I care.

  9. Michael Says:

    Ron W,
His rhetoric is “more 2A friendly” only if you limit yourself to what he’s said while on the campaign trail. History tells us that is a horrible way to evaluate politicians. If you open your horizon just a little, you will notice from him consistent rhetoric that is more 2A hostile than every single major party nominee in 30 years. Including Democrats.

And even on its face, your assertion is wrong. After he secured the NRA nod, a at the first chance the 2A came up, he threw us under the bus hopping on the left wing bandwagon on the so called Watch List.

Take a look at his business career. He is not trustworthy. He lies like Hillary. He is consistently anti-gun.

The best we can do is to cut the tether and not let him drag the movement down. Vote for any third party pres candidate you like, but vote down ballot. No matter who wins up top, it’s gonna be a rough four years.

But please, whatever you do, don’t tie us to that con man.

  10. JTC Says:

@Michael, so which is it? Do we “evaluate” Trump as a politician or as a businessman? Do you really think history tells us the past activities as one is in any way indicative of the other? Are you comparing “lies” of the latter in exploiting laws for profit with those of the former in exploiting the trust and security of the nation to attain personal power and fortune?

Wake up to that disconnect and realize that the motivations and goals of business are not the same as for the protection of sovereignty and the Constitution. Intelligent successful people learn, grow, and evolve.

That’s what Trump is doing, and his steadfast identification of and focus on the only pertinent three issues of our time; immigration, 2A, and scotus, is what will determine our survival as a Republic beyond those “rough four years”.

Consider the desires and activities of a Hilzabeast presidency as to those issues and tell me if you think we can survive it. I’m not sure DT is the man with the long-term vision and ability going forward, and I don’t think he’s sure either. But those four years will determine whether or not we will have options beyond 2020.

And absolutely positively any vote for anyone else will help the beast make sure that we don’t.

  11. Ron W Says:

@Michael, I’m not tying you to any con man. I’m just saying IF you are not voting for Trump because he “is not a friend of the 2nd Amendment” , then certainly that is even more true of Clinton given her rhetoric and record. So I must logically assume that, from your perspective, it is best go vote FOR a “friend of the 2nd Amendment” candiate. If not, what is your alternative?

  12. Ron W Says:

@JTC, very well put! I did not vote for past Republican candidates like Bush, McCain and Romney particularly because they were NOT pro gun rights and they supported, and as in Bush’s case, presided over open borders. I did vote FOR Constitutional conservatives, usually the Constitution Party presidential candidate while also voting FOR Constitutional conservatives, usually Republicans, in the down ballots.

  13. C-Low Says:

Or maybe build the wall to slow hinder stop , illegals, crime, drugs flowing north while doing the same to cash money and guns heading south.

It is called making the other side want what you are trying to get them to agree to do. Negotiation brilliance something we have not had in politick leaders in my lifetime. Mexico complains about cash money/guns flowing south we complain about illegals/drugs heading north, wall (border enforcement) is the answer now both can buy in for their own reasons/benefit.

  14. Ron W Says:

@C-Low, good points. Additionally, one of Mexico’s main sources of money is from illegal aliens working in U.S. sending (wiring) money back to Mexico. Securing the border with a wall and more manpower will tend to dry up that source of money–resulting in Mexico paying something for the wall. But otherwise, getting control of the border should benefit both countries and their people rather than the global elite.

  15. Michael Says:

    Ron W,
Trump is not a “friend of the second amendment”. Yes, Hillary is bad, but that doesn’t automatically make Trump good on the issue. You throw accusations at Hillary, but Trump is as guilty of every single one of those problems too! Go back and read Uncles original post. The facts don’t back up your assertions.

I’m not gonna vote for a corrupt, progressive, anti-gun compulsive liar, no matter what party they belong to. More importantly, I’m not gonna lie for one, either.

  16. Ron W Says:

Michael, my point was that in this election, Trump’s 2nd Amendment rhetoric has been better than previous Republicans. But as I have done with the anti-gun, fake conservatives like Romney, McCain and Bush is to vote for the Constitution Party and this year it’s Darrell Castleman. He supports the REPEAL of ALL Federal gun laws, since it has NO delegated power for them. In the past, the Libertarian Party candidates have been equally good re: gun rights, but not with John-Weld. They are phony libertarians on a range of issues.

  17. Michael Says:

    Ron W,
You are still incorrect, while he occasionally says pro gun things, he just as commonly advances anti gun tropes. (See OP). And, as I’ve mentioned before, a better measure of a candidate’s true beliefs are not what they say on the campaign trail, but what they said when they weren’t running. You are cherry picking some quotes, while ignoring many many others. The facts aren’t on your side.

I just don’t get your argument, which boils down to “all previous nominees haven’t been 100% pure, so let’s get behind this guy who is even worse”. Where is the logic in that?

  18. Ron W Says:

Michael, rehearse my # 16 comment. Determine the most pro-gun candidate and vote FOR that candidate.

  19. Ron W Says:

    @Michael, here I “cherry-picked” this for you:

    http://www.constitutionparty.com/gun-control-1/

Let me know if you find a presidential candidate that is better…although the repeal of all Federal gun laws is about as good as it gets. That’s my position.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
