This just in. Breaking news: The Colt Expanse is not a Colt 6920
He looks at the differences and concludes it’s not made by Colt:
Well, it is a lower end AR-15. And only the receiver appears to be Colt. And I don’t see the point in even having a fake forward assist. Why even leave it on there?
But, yeah, the 6920 is pretty much the standard.

That is interesting as I was going to recommend the Expanse to a first time AR purchaser over the S&W M&P Sported II but this analysis makes me rethink thst.

Do it right. Or do it again. Tell them to get the 6920

Says Colt on the side, it’s Colt. What else could it be?
Like the 1903 Pocket Hammerless they started making again! Oh wait, that was US Armament.
Or their “Bulldog” Gatling… wait… US Armament again.
Or their Retro line that’s coming up! Oh wait, that’s US Ordnance.
Uh…

And here I was thinking the whole point of AR-15 clones was they were NOT made by Colt, allowing more choices in details and levels of quality.

I confess, I am using a 15 year old HP PC. Made before Carly Fiorina ran the place into the ground, I think.

Meh, from what I’ve seen the markings on the expanse vary. Who makes the parts and where are far less important than the standards they’re held to at the end of the day.
And ultimately that was the whole point of the expanse, by building it outside of CT with non-CT parts, they could make it less expensive.
